"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."

"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." This is one of my favorite quotes. There is so much depth to it. It takes a gigantic amount of courage to actually be yourself -- to ditch the belief systems that you've adopted from your parents, your friends, your teachers, your coaches, your mentors, your spouse... I'm talking the ones that don't resonate with who you truly are. That takes work and it takes courage to let go of those things and take a stand for who you are deep inside, and for what you really believe in. Change takes courage. Letting go of those parts of you that aren't really you takes courage. But, you can do it. Let go of the beliefs about what you "should" be when you grow up. Most of those "shoulds" are based on beliefs about what others told us. What do you WANT to be? What would light a fire in your soul? And who said you had to "grow up"? That's not what this quote is about, in my opinion. It means, it takes courage to grow, to change, to grow into the person that you really are, without all of the . Who wants to "grow up" anyways? So, What do you really want to be when you GROW up? Who do you want to be? I want to truly be me. I want to be happy with every fiber of my being. I want to be my best self. I want to do a job that makes my heart sing, that fills up my cup, so that I am eager and jumping out of bed in the morning to do it. I want to be my best self. I want to do my inner work so I can grow more authentically me, every single day. I want to be conscious, aware, and live life with eyes WIDE open. What, who, and where do you want to be? And remember, "It is never too late to become what you might have been." -Eliot
